Maharashtra Cabinet approves three Government medical colleges in State
THERE is a reason to smile for the people in Vidarbha as Maharashtra State Cabinet, on Thursday, has given approval to three Government medical colleges in State, and two out of it are from Vidarbha. There was a long pending demand for Chandrapur. Gondia and Baramati which was fulfilled by the Government. Dr Vijay Kumar Gavit. Maharashtra's Minister of Medical Education took an initiative and given a gift to Vidarbhites.
All the three medical colleges will be having 100 seats each with 400 beds.For every 100 seats, Medical Council Of India has made it mandatory for the Medical College to have the hospital attached to it with 400 beds.
District Hospital is already there ai all the three places. Only some modifications will be made and it is expected that all the colleges will be operational by the year 2013. Chandrapur district hospital has 16-17 acre land. Government has asked some land on Mul road, 5.5 kms away from Chandrapur district hospital On this land, hostel, college building will be set up.
Government Medical college at Gondia was expected to come up. It is said that classes will begin from July 2013. To run classes. Gondia has KTS Government District General Hospital.
Gopaldas Agrawal. MLA who was the key person in taking efforts 10 bring this college told The Hiiavada Correpondent at Gondia that the college would prove a milestone in the development process of Gondia. It would cater the academic and healthcare needs of Bhandara, Gadchiroli, MP and Chhattisgarh. Agrawal has expressed his gratitude towards UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Maharashtra Chief Minister Priihviraj Chavan, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Minister Suresh Shetty and Dr. Vijaykumar Gavit. he has also credited Uiis success to Union Minister Praful Patel for his persuasion at his level.
