DCP Election 2013 Process Details
THE process for election to District Planning Committee (DPC) has commenced and it will be completed by February 19, as per the Government's latest directives. This year, the election will be interesting as 50 per cent of the seats have been reserved for women.
For conduct of what is the first election of DPC after announcement of 50 per cent reservation for women, the Government has chalked out a 31-day programme. Deputy Secretary (Planning) S N Shinde has sent a communication in this regard to all the District Collectors across the State.
As per the programme, final electoral rolls for DPC election were to be published on January 10, 2013. electoral roll prepared carried a major mistake. Instead of incorporating names of Municipal Council members, names of Panchayat Samiti members were included erroneously. The error is being rectified and corrected electoral roll are being published.
The programme for conduct of election was to be started on January 18. The entire process of election is to be completed by February 19. The administration has geared up for the election.
Surprisingly, reservations for various seats are to be decided on the basis of Census-2001. The population figures for Census-2011 have been declared already and still quota in DPC election will be decided on the basis of 2001 figures. The reservation so decided will not need approval of the Government, stales the circular.
Thanks :-)
