Republic Day India

In India, Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950.

At the Republic Day celebration attended by multitude of Indian business community in Philippines, officials serving at the Asian Development Bank and the IT industry, the Indian tricolour was unfurled to the spirited singing of the national anthem by all those present.  India's national tricolour also fluttered proudly across South East Asia today with Indian expatriates thronging Indian embassies to take part in the festivities.

Indian soldiers march down the ceremonial boulevard Rajpath during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26, 2013. India marked its Republic Day with celebrations held under heavy security, especially in New Delhi where large areas were sealed off for an annual parade of military hardware at which Bhutan's king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was chief guest.
