RTMNU Nagpur University really care about sports? 

THE apathetic and irresponsible attitude of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) towards sports has once again come to fore on Thursday when media-persons were forced to boycott a press conference for the prestigious 'Krida Mahotsav' as no University official turned up at the venue.

Altera long time RTMNU is hosting Slate-level Inter-University 'Krida Mahotsav' from January 17. Vice-Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal was to brief the media about the event on Thursday at 5 pm at Jal P Gimi hall.

Scribes, who were invited by Director of Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTMNU Dr Dhananjay Welukar through an email, reached the venue at the given time. But to their utter surprise none of the university officials was present.

According sources. Dr Sapkal was busy with the Purchase Committee meeting at University campus at the time of the scheduled press conference This is noi the first instance of university officials' highly irresponsible outlook towards sports. A few months back a function organised 10 felicitate meritorious sports-persons at Guru Nanak Sabhagruh was delayed by almost two hours.

In another incidents that look place just a few days back, athletes participating in the inter-college athletics meet had to wait for a long lime to get their hard-earned medals. They finally got it after the prize distribution ceremony was over.

This fresh incident has once again put a question mark on organisation and management of sports activities by the university.
